የኢትዮጵያ ካቶሊካዊት ቤተክርስቲያን ከካቶሊክ እርዳታ ድርጅት (CRS ) ዎርልድ ቪዥን(WV) ጋር በመተባበር የተዘጋጀ የጌዴኦና የጉጂ ህብረተሰብ የሰላም ግንባታ አጋርነት የውይይት መድረክ

The Ethiopian Catholic Church in collaboration with CRS Ethiopia and world vision organised a a consultative meeting on November 22,2018 on peace building among the community of Gedeo and Guji. The event is held in Dila town, Southern Region of Ethiopia.
On the occasion H.Em Cardinal Berhaneyesus, CM, Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa and President of CBCE stressed on the importance of collaboration in order to bring about sustainable peace for the people. He said the Church organised this consultation meeting to give the community and the community leaders the chance to speak on what is actually needed to sustain peace.
“The Church has been provided support in the rehabilitation process of the internally displaced people due to the conflicts. However, we believe that it is quite important to address the issue at ground that are causing the problems and address them. This can be done by the community and the community leaders themselves as we have the wisdom at hand. Partners can only support them in their efforts, this meeting gives us the opportunity to understand the actual needs of the community, ” said H.Em Cardinal Berhaneyesus, CM. Administrators of both Guji and Gedeo Zones expressed their commitment to enhance the on going peace building efforts and thanked the Catholic Church for the solidarity so far.
The Ethiopian Catholic Church with the support of CRS is providing support with a budget of 46 million US dollar for food items and 800 thousand US dollar for shelter and non food items.
At the end of the meeting all the participants issued a joint statement stressing their commitment to bringing a sustainable peace by using the common assets of the community .
Dila town is located in the Apostolic Vicariate of Hawassa. On the occasion H.E Abune Roberto Bergamesci, Apostolic Vicar of Hawassa, H.E. Abune Abraham Desta, Apostolic Vicar of Meki, H.E. Msgr. Angelo Antoneli, Apostolic Administrator of the Apostolic Prefecture of Robe expressed thier solidarity in working together for being an instrument of peace.
