Daughters of St. Anne celebrate 150 Jubilee

Daughters of St. Anne celebrated the 150 years anniversary of the founding of their religious congregation. In Ethiopia the Daughters of St. Anne commemorated the day with a thanks giving Holy Mass celebrated by H. Em. Cardinal Berhaneyesus, C.M., at the provincial house in Addis Ababa on December 8, 2016 on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. On the occasion the Cardinal thanked the Sisters for the Pastoral and social services they have rendered in Ethiopia since 1968. He especially congratulated Sr. Michaela and Sr. Rafaela who has served in the country since the congregation first arrived in Ethiopia and Eritrea.

The Provincial Superior of the Daughters of St. Anne in Ethiopia Sr. Woyneshet Gebru said that the celebration is an occasion where the Sisters can reflect on their services and thank God for the time He has given them. Sr. Woyneshet also asked all who those who joined the celebration to pray for the Daughters of St. Anne so that God may Bless them with the grace to keep on serving the people.

A drama on the life of St. Anne performed by the postulants of the congregation and an exhibition showcasing the services of the congregation in Ethiopia were part of the celebration.

The first Ethiopian member of the Missionary Sisters servant of the Holy Spirit makes profession

Sr. Meseret Woldemariam joins the Missionary Sisters servant of the Holy Spirit as the first Ethiopian member of the congregation. Sr. Meseret made her profession on December 8, 2016 in a ceremony that was held in the provincial house in Addis Ababa on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady.  She proclaimed her vows before God to serve living in chastity, poverty and obedience. She then received from the Superior provincial Sr. Stela the cross she will be wearing on her neck as a symbol of her membership to the religious congregation.

She was joined on the occasion by her family members and the Parish preist of Sts. Peter and Paul in Jajura village in the Apostolic Vicariate of Hossana where she came from.

The Missionary Sisters servant of the Holy Spirit have been serving in Ethiopia for 22 years with various Pastoral and Social activities.

Missionary Sisters servant of the Holy Spirit was  founded on 1889 and are present in 42 countries in the world.
